LAKHIMPUR: The first phase of Gunotsav 2023 got underway in Lakhimpur district since Wednesday along with 10 more districts of the State. These 10 districts where the first phase of the Gunotsav 2023 has been conducted are Barpeta, Karimganj, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Nagaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara Mankachar and Udalguri.

Gunotsav is an initiative of the Department of School Education of the State for ensuring quality education with improved learning outcome through the identification of learning gaps and devising effective strategies for remedial measures. The initiative has been conducted in various provincialized schools, tea garden management schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, tea garden model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas across the district. A total of 2,099 schools of the district, including 1,493 LP Schools, 320 Upper Primary Schools and 288 secondary schools of the district have been covered under the initiative.

On the other hand, a total of 844 Evaluators, 888 External Evaluators, 204 Liaison Officers and 2099 Nodal Teachers have taken part in the Gunotsav of the district. A total of 150 External Evaluators have been engaged from Dhemaji district while 100 External Evaluators have been engaged from Sonitpur district.

The first day (Wednesday) entailed self-evaluation of the schools concerned. On the other hand, the external evaluation process was conducted on Thursday. Two administrative officers of the State, viz Kulashree Nath, Director, Welfare of SC and Joint Secretary of Excise Department, and Partha Pegu, Director, Inland Water Transport, took part in the external evaluation process in the district on Thursday. Kulashree Nath evaluated the students of Chetia Gaon LP School, Dimaruguri LP School and Ghilamora Town LP School while Partha Pegu conducted the external evaluation at Madhabram Gogoi LP School, Padmanath Gohain Baruah High School and No. 3 Chutiakari LP School.

On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur Sumit Sattawan took part in the external evaluation process at Majgaon High School under Naoboicha Education Block. Dhakuakhana MLA Naba kr Doley participated as External Evaluator at Purani Gobindapur LP School under Bordoloni Education Block. The external evaluation process will also be conducted on January 19, January 20 and January 21.
