GUWAHATI: Taking immediate action based on specific inputs, the Special Task Force under the supervision of STF chief Parthasarathi Mahanta conducted an operation in Guwahati and captured a sizeable consignment of narcotic Ya Ba tablets. Multiple suspects were also arrested in connection with the seized consignment.

A Special Task Force operation led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Special Task Force Kalyan Kumar Pathak busted a narcotics deal which was supposed to take place infront of the Rahman Hospital at 6 Mile. The STF team swung into action and arrested three in connection to this incident. Their identities are Habibur Rahman(aged 49 years), S/0 Lt Md Achouba, Village Kwakta, W No 4 PS Moirang, Dist Bishnupur ( Manipur); Alimuddin ( aged 46 years), S/0 Lt Samiuddin, Vill Bhati Ghograchar PS Mankachar and Idrish Ali (aged 38 years), S/0 Abdul Hassan, Kawoimari, Nagaon, PS Dhing.

The suspected narcotic peddlers were apprehended from a Manipuri Rice Hotel in front of the Rahman Hospital in Six Mile. A total of 60,000 Ya Ba tablets were recovered from their possession. A case has been registered with the STF regarding the incident and necessary legal action is being initiated against the peddlers.

A notorious miscreant said to be involved in several crimes has been apprehended by the Guwahati Police from Dispur. A small consignment of contraband materials was also recovered from the procession of the miscreant. Carrying out an operation against narcotics consumption and proliferation in the region, Guwahati Police was able to arrest one person named Ananiash Basumatary alias Mithinga. Aged 34 years, he belongs to the Darkuchi Bazar locality of Barkhata under the Tamulpur Police Station in the Baksa District of the state. The police also mentioned that he currently resides in the Veterinary Segun Bagan in the Missing Barti locality under the Dispur Police Station in the Kamrup Metropolitan District.
