GUWAHATI: In a recent incident of robbery that unfolded in broad daylight, a woman fell victim to two bike-borne miscreants outside the Union Bank of India in Guwahati's Narengi area. The incident occurred on a Thursday evening, leaving the victim traumatized and the police launching a full-scale investigation.

The victim had just completed a transaction at the Union Bank of India, where she had withdrawn a substantial amount of Rs. 3.5 lakh in cash. As she made her way towards her parked car, little did she know that her life was about to take a harrowing turn.

Approaching her vehicle, the miscreants cunningly concocted a ruse. They informed the unsuspecting victim that some of her money had fallen out of her bag during her walk to the car. Concerned, the woman began to pick up the two stray notes, both of Rs 20 denominations, from the pavement.

However, while she was momentarily distracted, one of the two miscreants, riding a Pulsar bike, executed a swift and audacious move. In the blink of an eye, he snatched the bag containing the entire Rs. 3.5 lakh from the woman's hand and made a hasty escape, accelerating at a high speed in the direction of Patharkuwari.

The victim was left shocked and traumatized by the audacity and swiftness of the robbery. Desperate to recover her hard-earned money and bring the culprits to justice, she immediately lodged a formal complaint at the Noonmati Police Station.

Upon receiving the complaint, the local police promptly initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. Officers rushed to the scene of the crime to examine the surveillance footage captured by the bank's CCTV cameras.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities individuals face in public spaces, even outside established institutions like banks. The audacious nature of the crime, where miscreants exploited a brief moment of distraction to commit a daring theft, underscores the importance of vigilance and personal safety.

As the investigation progresses, authorities will work diligently to ensure that justice is served, and the victim's stolen money is recovered. The incident is a stark reminder of the importance of personal safety and the need for increased security measures to protect individuals from such brazen criminal acts.
