GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) penalized a unisex salon in Guwahati city for the unethical activity inside the salon on February 15.
Moreover, the salon was operating without a trade license for which a penalty of two lakh was imposed.
The GMC officials had inspected a unisex salon named Sharon Unique Hair and Spa Salon located at AG Plaza close to the Mizoram House on GS Road in the metropolis.
As per the inspection, the GMC officials found that the salon was running the business without the appropriate documents needed to operate a salon.
The GMC authorities on inspection found that the salon in operating without the required trade license and also unveiled the wrongful activities going on inside the salon.
As a punishment, a penalty of Rupees 12 lakh was imposed on the salon by the GMC. The officials had earlier received a complaint against the salon that they were running the business without a trade license said GMC to media.
It also informed that on inspection, the officials asked if there is a cabin inside on which the salon people replied that they don't have a cabin.
But officials say that the cabin door was open and went inside to check. Inside the cabin, they found a boy who was naked and was taking bath.
GMC officials said that they also found a girl inside the cabin room and as this was not ethically correct the Bhangagarh police station was informed about the salon activity.
The unisex salon has been operating the salon in a similar way without a trade license for more than two years.
A spot penalty of Rupees 2 lakh was fined added the GMC official while informing the local media persons.
