GUWAHATI: In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Anjan Nath, the Guwahati Police have apprehended Gitashree Sinha, who had self-proclaimed herself as the deceased's wife, along with her parents, Arijit Sinha and Jharna Sinha. The arrests took place on Sunday night, shedding light on the shocking motive behind the youth's tragic killing.
Sources close to the case reported that Gitashree and her parents were taken into custody shortly after the three individuals responsible for opening fire on Anjan Nath were also arrested. This revelation has led investigators to suspect that Gitashree's father, Arijit Sinha, played a central role in masterminding the plan to eliminate Anjan.
Moments before their apprehension, the police successfully tracked down and detained the three accused individuals, Sourabh Goenka, Govinda Kumar, and Arvinda Roy, who were responsible for the fatal shooting of Anjan Nath. Subsequent investigations suggested that Arijit Sinha devised the sinister plan, and Sourabh executed it with the assistance of Govinda Kumar and Arvinda Roy.
The intricate web of relationships in this case reveals a tragic narrative. Sourabh, a businessman in the Fancy Bazar area dealing in dry fruits, had initially become friends with Gitashree while she was in a relationship with Anjan Nath. However, over time, their friendship evolved into love.
Gitashree's parents, Arijit and Jharna, expressed their disapproval of her relationship with Anjan due to financial and alcohol-related concerns. In an attempt to secure their daughter's future with Sourabh Goenka, they conspired to eliminate Anjan, whom they saw as an obstacle to the marriage. This sinister plan was executed by Sourabh, with the assistance of Govinda Kumar and Arvinda Roy.
The police made another breakthrough in the case by seizing the motorcycle used by the accused during the shooting. The Yamaha MT 15 bike, bearing the registration number AS 01 EB 3684, has now become a critical piece of evidence in the investigation. Furthermore, it has been revealed that the murder weapon, a pistol, was procured from Bihar. In addition, the police have recovered seven mobile phones, adding to the mounting evidence.
Anjan Nath, the victim, was shot at point-blank range by unidentified assailants while he was traveling on a two-wheeler in Guwahati's Koinadhora area. Despite being rushed to Metro Hospital at Khanapara with bullet wounds to his chest, he tragically succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.
The investigation unveiled that Anjan was involved in a relationship with Gitashri Sinha, who had been previously married twice and was now divorced. Gitashri is a resident of Udaynagar near the Koinadhora area of Guwahati and has a child from her previous marriage. Anjan and Gitashri had been together for the past four years but had not tied the knot, according to the information gathered.
