GUWAHATI: A notorious miscreant said to be involved in several crimes has been apprehended by the Guwahati Police from Dispur. A small consignment of contraband materials was also recovered from the procession of the miscreant.

Carrying out an operation against narcotics consumption and proliferation in the region, Guwahati Police was able to arrest one person named Ananiash Basumatary alias Mithinga. Aged 34 years, he belongs to the Darkuchi Bazar locality of Barkhata under the Tamulpur Police Station in the Baksa District of the state. The police also mentioned that he currently resides in the Veterinary Segun Bagan in the Missing Barti locality under the Dispur Police Station in the Kamrup Metropolitan District.

During this operation, the police team was also able to recover 31 numbers of plastic vials and 2 numbers of tobacco boxes. A total of 58.5 grams of heroin was found in these containers. Three empty vials, two numbers of mobile phones, and Rs 3990 in cash were also recovered from him when he was apprehended from the Suryadoy Nagar locality which comes under the jurisdiction of the Basistha Police Station.

A First Information Report regarding the incident was registered at the Basistha Police Station and the necessary actions have been taken by the police regarding the incident.

In a seperate development, Guwahati Police have successfully apprehended two armed individuals who were responsible for a harrowing chain-snatching incident involving a Gauhati High Court advocate. The incident occurred on a seemingly peaceful morning in the Rajgarh area, where the brave advocate, Momita Bora, was out for her daily walk. According to reliable sources, Momita Bora noticed two unfamiliar young men on a motorcycle who appeared to be constantly staring at her during her morning walk on October 9. Initially, she paid little heed to their presence, thinking they were harmless passersby. However, when she returned home, her day took a distressing turn as one of the miscreants boldly approached her. He swiftly snatched her precious gold chain, sending shockwaves through the serene neighbourhood.
