GUWAHATI: In a significant development, two more individuals suspected of orchestrating a cybercrime ring in Assam have been apprehended by law enforcement authorities in the Chandmari area of Guwahati. These suspects were allegedly operating illicit call centers within the city, carrying out fraudulent activities that resulted in financial losses worth lakhs of rupees for unsuspecting victims. The culprits have been identified as Mahendra Shaan and Rajdweep Sadana, and their arrest was made possible through the concerted efforts of the Chandmari Police Station, acting on specific intelligence.

The modus operandi of the illegal call centers centered on deceit and impersonation, as the perpetrators posed as government or bank officials to manipulate individuals into falling prey to their schemes. As a result of the operation, a vehicle used by the suspects has also been seized as potential evidence.
