GUWAHATI: Saubhagya Sharma of Guwahati, Assam, was named Youngest Philanthropist of the Year in Animal Welfare at the Global Excellence Awards 2023, which were hosted in Mumbai recently..

She was overjoyed to receive the honour from animal lover and dog mother Madhuri Dixit Nene. Saubhagya has always been very kind and loving to stray animals.

She began fostering in her early teens and spent most of her non-working days volunteering at animal shelters, orphanages, and old age homes while working in the human resources department of a major international airline.

She has worked on animal welfare with nationally and internationally recognised NGOs such as The Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO), Peta India, PFA, and many others.

Following her love, she completed an animal communication and psychology diploma with Elmira Strange, University of Wales, UK, and Celtic Learning Solution, Akshaya Kawle in Mumbai.

Inspired by Jo-Ann McArthur, she became a Vegan and has participated in several awareness campaigns and activist events, as well as rescuing and vaccinating over 800 strays across the country without the need of any contributions.

She aspires to be a voice for all those who have no voice and to promote compassion above cruelty.

Brand Empower Pvt Ltd, a Delhi-based media, research, and branding organisation, launched the Global Excellence Awards, now in its fourth year, in New Delhi in 2018. The awards were created to recognise performers, artists, entrepreneurs, businesses, organisations, and individuals in the arts, entertainment, media, manufacturing, and services sectors who have demonstrated extraordinary creativity, innovation, and excellence in their work.

Madhuri Dixit Nene, this year's event's chief guest, is a renowned Bollywood actress who has earned multiple honours for her excellent performances in Indian cinema, including the Padma Shri - India's fourth-highest civilian honour.She is a source of inspiration to millions of people around the world because of her grace, talent, dance, and dedication to her trade.

While the NQA 2023 award event featured Sonali Bendre as the chief guest and TV Actor and Reality Show host Mr Rithvik Dhanjani as the host.

Speaking about the event, Nene expressed her feelings and said, "I am delighted to be a part of the Global Excellence Awards again, which celebrates excellence and innovation in various fields. In 2019, I was invited as Chief Guest at Global Excellence Awards and I was thrilled to witness so many outstanding entrepreneurs and professionals from all over India and World. Even so, learning about their struggles and how they built their company from scratch to its pinnacle with tenacity and passion inspired me a lot."
