HAILAKANDI: In view of significant rise in number of COVID-19 cases, the Hailakandi district administration has asked the shopkeepers and employees working in shops and establishments to get themselves tested on a periodic basis for their own safety as well as safety of the public at large.
In an order issued to this effect here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman, DDMA, Megh Nidhi Dahal asked the shopkeepers and workers in shops and establishments who are at a high risk of contracting the disease and are likely to transmit the disease as 'their profession requires frequent interaction with the general public' to get themselves tested for COVID-19 for their own safety and for the safety of the public at large.
The order asked the merchant associations and bazaar committees to get in touch with the executive officers of their respective municipal boards and town committees or circle officers to chart out a schedule covering all shops and establishments for getting themselves tested voluntarily at the designated COVID counselling and screening centres.
The merchant associations and bazaar committees have been asked to submit the schedule to the Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Chief Executive Officer, DDMA for necessary steps.
The district administration has set up several COVID counselling and screening centres across the district for prevention and early detection of COVID-19 cases.
