HAILAKANDI: The Hailakandi district administration has urged people to follow weekend lockdown and night curfew guidelines in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the district.

Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal issued an order to this effect strictly prohibiting the movement of individuals between 6 pm and 6 am. It also ordered no movement of individuals at any given time on Saturday and Sunday all over the district.

The order stated that all commercial establishments, shops and trade activities will be allowed to operate between 7 am and 5 pm from Monday to Friday.

Inter-district movement of people is allowed on Monday and Tuesday only. "No separate permission or e-permit will be required for inter-district movement," it stated. Malls and gymnasiums are allowed to operate on Monday to Friday between 7 am and 5 pm with maintenance of social distancing and following all COVID-19 protocols.

Moreover, restaurants, hotels and other hospitality services are allowed to function on all days except Saturday and Sunday with maintenance of COVID-19 protocols and social distancing norms.

All Central and State Government Offices including banks, insurance companies, NBFCs, etc shall operate with 100% attendance except pregnant women, the order mentioned. The order prohibited social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, religious functions and other large congregations.

Persons above 65 years of age and children below the age of 10 years have been advised to stay indoors except for unavoidable health reasons. The order made wearing of masks or face cover compulsory in public places, in work places and while travelling etc. "Violation will attract a fine of Rs.1000 for the first offence," it stated.

The order warned that anyone found violating the instructions will be punishable under relevant Sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and IPC.
