TANGLA: The temperature crossed 36 degrees Celcius on Wednesday giving no respite to the people of Tangla town and its suburbs in Udalguri district. The town and its surrounding places reeled under a scorching sun with people mostly remaining indoors.

As per Accuweather, a Google weather app, the maximum temperature in Tangla on Wednesday was 36 degree Celsius. The guardians of school students expressed great concern over the functioning of schools in full swing. “I am not going to send my son if such weather persists, their learning suffers and they are prone to illness in such temperature. Moreover their exams are round the corner,” said Syeda Narjuma Begum, a resident of the town. The streets of Tangla wore a deserted look throughout the day. Businesses establishments and shopkeepers in the town were seen lazing their time away while sale of fans, coolers and air-conditioners has increased in the town.

It was also a good day for the outlets of tender coconuts, soft drinks and ice-cream and sugarcane juice vendors as they did brisk business. The humidity level on Wednesday was at 64 per cent. Moreover, the frequent load shedding has also added sting to the summer heat.
