Headmaster’s suicide: 2 sent to jail in Demow

DEMOW: Sanjay Prasad Sah and Santosh Karmakar, who were allegedly demanding money from the headmaster of a primary school who committed suicide recently, have been sent to jail.

According to sources, Rajkapur Panika (50), a resident of Rajmai Pakhimuri Line near Demow and Headmaster of 1051 No. Rajmai Kishan Primary School, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the pond near his residence. Sanjay Prasad Sah and Santosh Karmakar were allegedly demanding money from Rajkapur Panika for which he was mentally disturbed and took the extreme step. A suicide note was recovered from the deceased Headmaster’s residence. In the suicide note, names of Deba Kakoty, media person Sanjay Sah and Santosh Karmakar were mentioned. Rati Panika, wife of Rajkapur Panika, had lodged an FIR in Demow Police Station. Based on the FIR, Sanjay Prasad Sah and Santosh Karmakar were arrested and a case was registered. Sanjay Prasad Sah, a reporter of a web portal, and Santosh Karmakar, member of Athabari VDP Party, were sent to Sivasagar Jail on Friday. According to sources, the third accused – Deba Kakoty is absconding.
