TANGLA: In an effort to create awareness on the issue of contagious diseases and facilitate health check-ups for the villagers, a health mela and awareness camp was held at Bahadur Adarsha village under Orang Block Primary Health Care Centre in Mazbat of Udalguri on recently.

The event was hosted by Udalguri District Health Committee in coordination with Orang Block PHC and Mazbat regional unit of All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU). Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director of Health and Services, Udalguri, Dr Tayebur Rahman commended the pivotal role played by ASHA workers in sensitizing the village populace. He also asserted that though more than one lakh citizens had undergone testing of COVID-19, only a few positive cases were detected due to the effort of the ASHA workers in conducting sensitization drive in remote villages.

Paediatrician Dr. Chandan Kumar Saha, Dr. Subati Singh, Dr Upendra Chandra Deka, and BTAD Journalist Association secretary Naba Kumar Deka were part of the event. Khoirabari Arohan Cultural Project NGO members also presented a play on drug abuse prevention.
