SIVASAGAR: As part of the special step taken by Assam government to give COVID vaccines to every person above 18 years, 5 mobile COVID vaccination vans were flagged off in Sivasagar by State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta. The Health Minister officially handed over the keys of the vehicles to the district vaccination officer Dr. Arundhati Bora Hazarika in the premises of the Deputy Commissioner's Office on Monday.

Earlier, the Health Minister convened a meeting to review the progress of the district's vaccination campaign. In the meeting held at the Syukafa Conference Hall of DC's Office, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Megha Nidhi Dahal informed the Health Minister in detail about the current COVID-19 management and COVID vaccine distribution campaign in the district. He also informed that there will be a mega vaccination campaign in the district on September 17. The Deputy Commissioner also informed that vaccines will be distributed at 160 centers during the campaign which aims to provide 38,000 vaccines. He also said that the teachers of the schools will be employed by providing necessary training as an additional verifier in the campaign. In the review meeting, the Health Minister stated that COVID vaccine is the only tool at this current stage to prevent the pandemic. He urged the district administration to create widespread awareness from the grassroot level at every corner of society for the full success of the mega vaccination campaign to be held on September 17. To make this mission fruitful, Mahanta appealed to prepare a perfect plan. In his speech, the Health Minister said that people who have not yet come forward to get the vaccine may also refrain from getting the benefits of government schemes in the future. He also directed the district administration to ensure public notice posters are displayed with the announcement of taking COVID vaccines in government and non-government offices, shopping malls, shops, business establishments, markets etc. He also advised to take an early awareness program for this purpose.
