DHUBRI: With a view to start the session 2022-23 of Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta inspected and took stock of the finishing works of Dhubri Medical College.

The minister landed on Rupsi Airport and straight drove to the site of the medical college. He discussed with the officials and inspected the progress of works which is nearing completion at war footing. Mahanta informed that the State government has already applied to National Medical Council for its approval to begin the first session this year, and very soon a team of officials from the council will arrive here to inspect the college infrastructures.

Further, fund amounting to Rs. 20.72 crores is sanctioned to make payment to land owners whose lands measuring 50 were acquired for the construction of the college, he said. Talking to media persons, he also informed that at the beginning, the construction work of the medical college was started with an estimated budget of Rs. 326 crores but it shot up to 511 crores over the years. Appointments of principal and staff would soon begin and start functioning here with all administrative facilities, the minister further informed.
