LAKHIMPUR: In the wake of the outbreak of coronavirus, strict vigil on persons coming back from other States continues in Lakhimpur district. As per report from the Health Services Department, the number of people kept under home quarantine increased up to 1,366 on Wednesday On the day, home quarantine for 1,002 more such people of the district was ensured by the Health Services Department.

On the other hand, four persons were kept under mass quarantine facility in the district on Tuesday. As per report found, they are people of other States having travel history of visiting Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Bihar. Further, a person aged over 70 years was admitted in a private sector hospital of the district with isolation facility. The Health Department is keeping close watch on the patient at present.

The Health Department has continued the conduct of all kinds of precautionary measures to prevent the outbreak of the COVID-19 in the district. A total of 70 surveillance teams have been active in the district and cumulative figure of which is 279 since the week. On Tuesday, 50 gram sabhas and public meetings for IEC in micro level were conducted in the district. Till day, the Health Services Department organized a total of 8,890 such events in the district while 18 meetings of co-ordination committee were organized. Though the Health Department sent two samples for coronavirus test, the results of both were negative.

The district administration ensured the lockdown across the district along with other parts of the State from 6 pm on Tuesday. The district administration has appealed to the people of the district to follow the directives of the lockdown period without any violation with a view to containing the pandemic.
