GUWAHATI: In a heart-wrenching incident, a couple lost their son and daughter within a week in Darang, Assam.
Sajid Akhtar, 23, son of Wahedur Rahman, a resident of Dumunichaki, Sipajhar, and a teacher, died Tuesday afternoon. He suffered from Kidney ailments.
Earlier, he was undergoing treatment in a Chennai Hospital. On August 15, he was taken back home. His sister Rumija Begum along with a friend went to receive him at the LGBI Airport, Borjhar. They were reportedly going to get married next month and had come to the LGBI Airport to pick up their brother.
Unfortunately, they met with an accident at the Sarighat Bridge and died.
According to reports, the accident took place after a private vehicle Swift hit on the railings of the bridge and fell down 50 ft below.
As per sources, the car was coming from Sipajhar's Moruasuki to Guwahati.
The vehicle bore the registration number AS 01 BF 0380.
After 8 days from death her tragic death, her brother also passed away due to his kidney ailments which saddened the people of the area. Nobody could find words to placate their parents.
According to local people, Sajid was a meritorious student.
