MANGALDAI: Saturday evening, despite being the first day of the urban lockdown, turned into an evening of emotions for the police personnel of Mangaldai Police Station as they assembled to accord a hearty farewell to the outgoing Officer in-charge, Inspector Niranjan Barua.
In recognition of the sincere service rendered by Inspector Barua for more than two years in the district headquarters Police Station, the staff of the police station organized the function in the conference hall of the Village Defence Organization. Sub-Inspector Sona Ram Medhi, in-charge of Traffic Branch, Gokul Deka, ASI Mukunda Ram Sarma, deputy adviser of Village Defence Organization, Mukut Saikia and senior media person Hemanta Kumar Barua, while taking part in the farewell function, recalled the bold role played by Inspector Barua during different critical periods, including the lockdown.
Addressing the function presided over by media person Bhargab Kumar Das, outgoing Officer in-charge, Inspector Niranjan Barua extended his gratitude to all the ranks of the police station and the law-abiding citizens for their whole-hearted support and cooperation in establishing the police as the true friend of the people. He also thanked Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan for his guidance and encouragement. The staff also accorded a warm welcome to the newly-joined Officer in-charge, Inspector Dina Bandhu Bhuyan. Inspector Bhuyan in his speech reposed his faith on all the ranks of the police station and hoped that with the cooperation and support of the staff as well as media persons and peace-loving citizens, he would be able to make Mangaldai Police Station a people-friendly institution.
