LAKHIMPUR: Heavy showers lashed Lakhimpur district and its adjacent areas on Monday. The torrential rain affected normal life in the district since the afternoon, lasting till late night.
Amidst such miserable condition, a strong storm hit several parts of the district like a whiplash on Monday mid-night. The storm ravaged several residential houses, paddy godowns, cow sheds at Debera and several villages under Telahi Mouza, Naoboicha, Phoolbari, Ghagar and Kadam. In addition, the storm caused damage to fruit-bearing plants and other trees at these places. However, no casualty has been reported. On the other hand, the storm disrupted electricity supply in the district. A major part of North Lakhimpur subdivision remained in darkness for the entire night.
