Heavy hailstorm and rain damage several houses in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG: Strong winds, torrential rain, and hailstorm damaged numerous dwelling houses completely and destroyed many public properties in Diyungbra, Hatikhali, Manderdisa and other parts of the district on Saturday.

Many vehicles were stranded for hours on the Umrangso-Lanka road as many uprooted trees and power line posts were lying on the road blocking the traffic for hours on Saturday. The areas which saw maximum damage are Haflong Tinali, Block Bazaar and Diyungbra while a pandal which erected for a programme supposed to be held on Sunday was also damaged.

The District Disaster Management Authority Dima Hasao meanwhile, mobilized a team for the assessment of loss of property. The Forest Department and PWD have been alerted.
