‘Heritage Club’ formed at DHS Kanoi College

DIBRUGARH: A SPIC MACAY Heritage Club was formed at DHS Kanoi College on Friday. This is a significant beginning of the historic DHS Kanoi College that completed celebrating its Platinum Jubilee recently. The SPIC MACAY Heritage Club will create awareness among students about the rich cultural heritage of India by promoting Indian classical music, dance, art and also introduce the students to the rich Indian folk culture and art.

The club will involve a group of faculty and student members with the principal as the head, and will carry forward the aims and objectives of SPIC MACAY by organizing different activities in the college and collaborative activities with nearby educational institutions.

The club will engage historic resources in research, collecting artwork and creating archives to help ensure that historic resources are safe and easily accessible for future generations.

The primary functions of the club will be to create awareness among students and the community about historical resources and to promote cultural resources by organizing various workshops, seminars, lectures and exhibitions.

The meeting was held at the Principal’s Conference hall of DHS Kanoi College on Friday where BCPL Chief Manager (Collection) Pranjal Pukan and DHS Kanoi College GB president Abhimanyu Barua, vice principal Dr. Priyadev Goswami, coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell Dr. Anupjyoti Bharali, head of Economics Department Dr. Partha Ganguli and professor of English Department Dr. Trishna Duarah Kalita were present in the meeting.
