Heroin and ganja seized in Tezpur, four arrested

TEZPUR: Acting on a tip-off, a team of Sonitpur Police under the supervision of Additional SP, (Headquarters) Madhurima Das and led by Simanta Pathak, IC Borghat OP, and Tapan Talukdar, IC Mahabhairab OP, under Tezpur Police Station seized a vehicle bearing registration number AS12Q 4027 and arrested four persons, namely Bahar Ali (22), resident of Majbat Adarshagaon under Udalguri PS in Udalguri district, Ansuma Bosumotary (30), resident of Majbat Adarshagaon PS-Udalguri, Dibya Jyoti Rabha (21), resident of Roumari Village under Dhekiajuli PS, and Dumarlal Panika (30), resident of Bipukhuri Bagan area under Majbat PS in Udalguri district.

Talking to The Sentinel, DSP Luit Talukdar said that during their interrogation they confessed that they had sold around 25 kg of ganja to one Anuwar Hussain of Gutlung Namapara under Tezpur PS and accordingly a search was conducted in the house of Anuwar Hussain. Around 25.786 kg of suspected ganja which were concealed inside a trunk and buried in a newly-constructed house.

In another raid was conducted by Sonitpur police, a naka checking was laid by SI Simanta Pathak, IC Borghat OP under Tezpur PS and staff at Kaliabhomora Bridge. During checking, one Rosidul Haque (27), resident of Bogamur village under Samuguri PS in Nagaon district, was apprehended and two soap boxes containing 24. 58 grams of suspected heroin were seized.
