BOKAJAN: Police in Karbi Anglong on Wednesday recovered 529 grams of heroin from Dillai Gate and arrested two persons in this connection. The market value of the consignment is Rs 3 crore. Acting on specific input, a police team accompanied by a team of CRPF personnel set up a naka in front of the Lahorijan Police Picket on Wednesday afternoon.
“At about 4 pm, one Tata DI vehicle bearing registration number AS11DC4350 was intercepted and on thorough search of the vehicle, a total of 45 boxes of soap cases containing 529.36 grams of heroin was recovered,” said a senior police official. The heroin packets were hidden inside the spare tyre of the vehicle. Two persons from Manipur have been arrested. They are Th Boby (21), son of Th Tomba of village Hiyangthang Pallak under Wangoi PS in Imphal West district (Manipur), and Pusham Abdul Hasim (26), son of Pusham Kasim Ali of Hiyangthang Pallak under Wangoi PS of Imphal West district, Manipur. Despite intensified vigil by police and other security agencies, the movement of drugs continues through this inter-state border.
