TINSUKIA: Based on credible input from Special Task Force (STF), the Tinsukia Police made a significant recovery of huge quantity of heroin worth Rs 4.5 crore after intercepting two vehicles near Kakopathar in the Tinsukia district on Sunday and apprehended three persons.

Sharing the information, Tinsukia SP Abhijit Gurav said the operation led to the recovery of 699.91 grams of heroin from two vehicles- Swift Dzire VXi (AS-04-P 7010) and Alto K-10 (AS01 BV 3092) concealed in 57 soap cases. The vehicles were transporting drugs from Karimganj in Barak Valley to Arunachal Pradesh. The three drug traffickers, all hailing from Karimganj, were identified as Shiplu Ahmed (27), son of Babul Hussain, Maruf Ahmed Khan (28), son of Altaluddin, and Abidul Hoque (24), son of Masukuddin. The police also recovered cash Rs 13,950 and 5 mobile sets from their possession.
