BOKAJAN: Police in Karbi Anglong recovered 1.132 kg of heroin worth Rs 6 crore from two persons at Janakpukhuri under Khatkhati police station bordering Nagaland on Saturday. Two persons have been arrested in this connection, They are L Pavei Doni (31), son of S Louno of Liyai Khunou Village and H Thou (52), son of Haba of Zhaimai Village. Both of them hail from Manipur’s Senapati district under Tadubi Police Station.

“They were walking on the road with a bag at their hand. Acting on specific information, we intercepted the bag and detained the two persons. During the search, 87 soap cases of suspected heroin weighing 1.132 kg were found along with Rs 37,000 from them,” Bokajan SDPO John Das said.

The raid was conducted under the supervision of Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police Sanjib Kumar Saikia. Khatkhati has been already turned into a transit route for narcotic drugs and other illegal substances brought from Myanmar to sell in Assam and other parts of the country. There is no let-up of the situation even as police and other investigation agency are working round the clock to check such cases of drug trafficking through this route.
