High-level delegation of Assam Agriculture Commission visits Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: A group of high-level representatives exchanged views with the employees of the department of Agriculture, scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Zonal Research Station on profile and current agricultural status of the district. After that the 6-member team including Dr. H.S. Gupta (Chairman), Dr. D. Sharma, Dr. B. C. Bora, P. P. Sharma, Dr. A. C. Sharma, Dr. N. M. held an interactive session with the mushroom growers, flower growers and other growers related with different farming activities at Zonal Research Station, Gossaigaon.

As the Floriculture Mission is implementing in the State of Assam, Dr. N. Mohan stated that Kusumbil Village has high potential to gear up the Floriculture Mission. He discussed about necessary steps that should be taken for systematic flower cultivation. They also suggested some measures to the mushroom growers of the district as mushroom is the ODOP (one district one product) of Kokrajhar district. In the meeting the team also discussed about horticulture, pisciculture, piggery etc. And after that the AAC team visited maize field at Mujathi and a mushroom growing unit at Sapkata under Sapkata ADO Circle. At the end of the first day another meeting was held with Chief Executive Member of BTC Pramod Bodo at Bodoland Guest House.

On the second day, the then AAC had a meeting with executive member BTC (agriculture) Ghanashyam Das and the officials of Department of Agriculture, Veterinary, Dairy, Fishery, Irrigation, Agriculture Engineering of four district Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri, Baksa and FPC of members of Kokrajhar district were present. The commission emphasized double cropping and application of scientific methods in agricultural production, plant protection, irrigation system, increase in agricultural production, increasing farmers income etc.
