High-level security meeting held ahead of Amit Shah's Arunachal visit

DIBRUGARH: Assam Special DGP (L&O) GP Singh, Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Shwetank Mishra, a high-level police team and other security forces held a meeting at Joypur IB in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

"The meeting was held regarding various issues. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be coming to Arunachal Pradesh on a two-day tour on May 21 and 22. He will be participating in a state-level programme in Arunachal Pradesh," said a top police official.

He said, "Discussion regarding youths joining ULFA (I) were held during the meeting. We are ready to thwart any kind of eventuality."

However, after getting an alert from Assam Police based on their intelligence inputs regarding the possibility of attack on vital installations and kidnapping of officials in Upper Assam by insurgent groups, Oil India Limited, Duliajan has issued an internal SOP for its executives and employees considering the security alert. Sources said that GP Singh told the police forces to be alert during the visit of Union Home minister Amit Shah.
