TANGLA: A group of patriotic youths took out a bike ride on Independence Day in Tangla town of Udalguri district on Thursday.

The young guns under the banner of Tangla Bikers rode motorcycles with flags tied on them, They started the ‘Freedom Ride’ from Tangla town which culminated at the picturesque Paneri Tea Estate in Udalguri district.

“We bikers thought why not also ride on I D Day because we are as enthusiastic about our freedom as about bike rides. Also, people like to follow what we do. So we thought that when they see that being owners of different bikes we still ride for one cause, they will also want to do the same rather than indulge in rash driving or stunts,” says Wajid Khan a member. Dibyo Jyoti Medhi said the basic idea of organizing this ride was that people should come out and celebrate Independence Day.

For motorbike enthusiast and a member of the motorbike group, Dulal Rabha, it is also important to make people realize that Independence Day was not just another holiday. “This is our first ride on Independence Day and the number of participants has crossed 40. Since motorcycling is our calling, we believe that it is the best way to show our patriotism towards our country.”
