GAURISAGAR: State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of two brigges on Dikhow River in Konwerpur under Sivasagar district on Friday.
In this connection a meeting was held. Addressing the gathering, Sarma dwelt at length on the beneficial schemes of the State Government. He also said that the two bridges on Dikhow River would be completed within 18 months. Soon after their completion, a long-pending demand of the people of the area would be fulfilled. Besides, the bridges would open business opportunities and contribute to the economic growth of the area. He also urged upon to the public to extend help and cooperation to the government in implementing development schemes for the district.
In the meeting, various organizations felicitated the minister. He was accompanied by MP Kamakshya Prasad Tassa, State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan, Sonari MLA Nabonita Hondique, Thowra MLA Kushal Dowari, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Lakhinandon Gogoi and other dignitaries.
The 161.26-metre long Sriripuria bridge will be constructed at the cost of Rs 18 crore funded by the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) while the 134.31-metre long Harmotigarh to NH-37 Gaurisagar connected bridge will be construct at a cost of Rs.10 crore under the Uttaran scheme within a time frame of 18 months.
On the same day, the minister laid the foundation stone of 11 roads in Sivasagar LAC at the cost of Rs.45 crore.
