GOLAGHAT: State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Re-SVAYEM scheme in Golaghat district on Friday. In this regard a public meeting was held under the aegis of the Finance Department of the Government of Assam and in association with Golaghat District administration. The minister officially handed over cheques to the beneficiaries of the Re-SVAYEM (Redesigned Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth Empowerment) scheme in the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the scheme had been launched to empower rural economy by encouraging local trade and industries. Development of poor and economically weak employed youths was the aim of this government, he said. Two lakh unemployed youths will be provided Rs 50,000 under this scheme. Later, these beneficiaries will be called for training and another Rs. 20,000 will be given. The beneficiaries who perform well will be given a chance to register their names and firm under the PWD and Agriculture department so that they do developmental works under these departments.
