Guwahati: Fulfilling the promises made in the recently concluded Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections,2020 State's Finance, Health and Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday laid as many as three foundation stones, two for Government Model Colleges and one for a bridge in the Bodoland Territorial Region.

Further, the Minister laid foundation stones for Govt. Model Colleges in Baksa and Chirang districts also.

In Baksa's Kumarikata, Tamulpur Sarma laid the foundation stone for the College in presence of BTC Chief Promod Boro, former Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, and Minister of state's Irrigation Department Bhabesh Kalita.

Sarma took to Twitter and wrote, "Another step towards improving standards of higher education in BTR.In #Baksa today, the laid foundation stone of Government Model College at Kumarikata, Tamulpur in presence of Min @Bhabesh_KalitaR, BTC CEM @Pramodboro1and @BiswajitDaimar5#AssamAlwaysAhead #AssamEduCare."

And in Chirang district's Koila Moila the Minister laid the foundation stone of another Government Model College in presence of BTC CEM Promod Boro. The estimate of the project is Rs 14.07 crore that would help in strengthening higher education in the region.

He tweeted, "Pleased to have laid the foundation stone of Government Model College at Koila Moila in #Chirang today in presence of BTC CEM @Pramodboro1. This project worth Rs 14.07 cr will help in strengthening higher education in BTR. #AssamEduCare #AssamPWD."

On the other hand, aiming to improve the road connectivity, minister Sarma laid the foundation stone of a bridge worth Rs 29. 7 crores that would be constructed on Barama-Dhamdhama-Tamulpur Road under the State-Owned Priority Development (SOPD) scheme. The project would protect the people from the threats of Pagladia River due to erosion & ensure.

Sarma wrote in his tweet, "Laid foundation stone of bridge to be constructed on Barama-Dhamdhama-Tamulpur Road under SOPD Scheme. This bridge worth Rs 29.7 cr will protect people here from the threats of Pagladia River due to erosion & ensure connectivity for 365 days. @Pramodboro @BiswajitDaimar5."
