SILCHAR: Minister of Health Himanta Biswa Sarma, a few days back, went on record to say that those returning to Assam from other states would pose a challenge for the State. It has happened despite all the possible preventive measures. Barak Valley comparatively was safe until the return of the Nizamudeen Tablighis as one of them was tested positive, admitted in SMCH, cured and released. From orange zone, it was declared green. Out of the 42 passengers from Ajmer Sharif, 5 turned out to be positive. 11 villages in Cachar have to be sealed. The district however remained green due to the quick and efficient response of the administration in tackling the crisis.

There is further trouble with fresh returnees from their work places quarantined in hotels and other designated places. Hotel Centre Place at Central road of this town was declared as containment area on Sunday following a patient from Chennai, Swapan Naik (28), quarantined here tested positive. He hails from Jaipur-Borthal area of Cachar. Under provisions of Assam Covid Regulations, 2020, the area around Hotel Centre Place including hotel Divyam, Swagat and Arun Kumar Chanda Market Complex has been sealed with immediate effect. Entry and exit and movement of vehicular traffic have been prohibited until further notice.

It is now reported that Hailakandi administration is making arrangement for 1000 bed quarantine centres in view of the migration of workers from other states and Nizamuddin Tablighi Jamaats. A Karimganj report says till now 38 persons have returned from their different centres of work and quarantined at hotels. Panic gripped when a youth fled from the hotspot zone of Tripura yesterday and landed at Patharkandi. In the meantime, Bhaskar Gupta, Superintendent of SMCH, said condition of10 positive cases of the hospital is stable. Keerthi Jally, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, after making a round of the sealed area of this town and NATRIP quarantine centre today asked people not to panic and follow the guidelines strictly.
