Sarma chaired a meeting with the 3rd Kamrup District Level Monitoring Committee to discuss the implementation of the scheme.
Taking to Twitter, Sarma advised officials to ensure vigilance at all steps.
Under the 'Orunodoi' scheme, over 19 lakh poor families will get Rs.830 each per month.
To apply for the scheme, the applicants should be permanent and current resident of Assam to avail the benefits, the composite income of the applicants should not be less than Rs.2 lakh per annum.
The scheme will give priority to those households which have widows, divorced or unmarried, separated female or any differently-abled person. However, the scheme will exclude families with no female members.
People who will be excluded from the scheme are:
1. Families of former and current member members of parliament (MPs),
2. members of legislative assembly (MLAs),
3. current members of panchayat raj institutions and urban local bodies have been kept away from the scheme.
4. All regular serving or retired officers and employees of central, state government ministries, offices, departments and its field units central or state PSES and attached offices Autonomous Institutions under the government as well as regular employees of the local bodies and PSUS.
5. Doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, architects and registered government contractors, income tax payers, farmer families which own more than 15 Bighas of agricultural land, families owning a tractor, families owning four-wheeler or mechanized boat will be excluded from the scheme.
6. Households owning a refrigerator or washing machine or air conditioner are also excluded.
However, having a two-wheeler is not an exclusion criterion.
