Vaccination for Journalists: Karimganj Press Club organised a camp on Saturday for facilitating Covid vaccine for journalists and their family members in memory of distinguished writer and journalist, Homen Borgohain, and all those media persons of the country who lost their life in their crusade against Corona 19 contagious disease while discharging their duties. The camp by any press club of the valley was organised at Karimganj for the first time.

Inaugurating the camp at B. Ed. College, Kripanath Mallah M.P. expressed his thankfulness to Karimganj Press Club and was happy to see large turn up of journalists and their family members. Arup Roy, general secretary of the Press Club, submitted a representation to Health Minister Keshab Mahanta during his recent visit to Karimganj, urging upon him for vaccination to all the journalists of the border district. The Minister immediately advised the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that no journalist and his family members were left out of vaccination.

Kripanath Mallah said he would be with Karimganj Press Club to organise such vaccination camps at Badarpur, Nilambazar, Patharkandi and Ramkrishna Nagar. He was all praise for the Press Club. Dr Anup Daitrai, joint director of health services, said he was fortunate to be associated with such a noble work of the press club. He added to say like health workers, journalists are also frontline warriors. Sabbir Nishad, DIPRO, said he was happy to be present on the occasion just after his posting here and get introduced with the media persons.

Dr Manas Das in his brief but enlightening speech on various aspects of Corona pandemic while strongly recommending vaccination for all eligible persons stressed on adherence to Covid protocol. He assured of his presence on such occasions. Dipak Das, President, Rotary Club Borderland, felt proud of Press Club's social and humanitarian mission and his commitment to always stand by it. Advisor to the Press Club, Habibur Rahman Choudhury, said 300 journalists across the country have lost their life during the Covid pandemic. He paid his deepest homage to them and impressed upon the Centre and the States to recognise the journalists and pay due honour to them for their sacrifices.

Kamalakha Dey Purkayastha MLA (North Karimganj) appreciated the mission and vision of the press club, known for its best of services to society. Mihir Deb Nath, president of Press Club, said during the first and the second Covid rage, journalists of the border district have move around urban and rural areas to collect information and some of them got infected. Their job is not easy particularly during critical time, yet they have to be on their toes. He expressed his confidence "We will overcome the crisis."
