Haflong: President of Halali Progressive Welfare Society Dilip Ninisa reiterated the demand for ‘Dimaraji’, a State within India, along with other demands like the total implementation of Memorandum of Settlement (MoS), in a general meeting of former Dima Army and civil cadres held at Tularamraji on Wednesday. Halali Progressive Welfare Society was earlier known as Dima Halam Daogah (DHD).

After threadbare discussion, the previous body of the Halali Progressive Welfare Society was reshuffled and former chairman of DHD, Dilip Nunisa was selected as the president of the society with majority support.

The meeting unanimously resolved and decided to reiterate the long-pending demands for the creation of separate Dimaraji state within the Indian union, to implement the Memorandum of Settlement, the formation of Barman Hojai development council under clause no. 2.8 of the memorandum, to cancel the bamboo park project and to demand the construction of cultural complex at Maibang like Shilpagram and Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra of Guwahati.

The meeting urged upon the governments of India and Assam to immediately arrange for the implementation of the Memorandum of Settlement for the greater interest of peace and development.

Nunisa, while talking to media persons, expressed concern over the non-implementation of MoS even after several years of signing the MoS. He said, “We will be meeting the Union Home Minister very soon regarding the proper implementation of MoS and our democratic movement for Dimaraji and other demands will continue.”
