MANGALDAI: Are the Bodoland Territorial Areas districts going to witness violent activities again even after the signing of the recent Accord and subsequent dissolution of all the four factions of the erstwhile banned outfit of NDFB? Much to the contrary to the high expectations of all circles for a peaceful situation in the Bodoland area and for the smooth and peaceful election to the council legislative assembly election scheduled on April 4, the police and security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a village in Udalguri district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
A joint team of Udalguri Police and army, acting on a tip-off, conducted a search operation at a banana plantation area at village No. 1 Badagaon under Udalguri Police Station and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. In this operation, the joint team of police and army at about 2.30 am recovered one AK 56 Rifle with magazine and 12 live rounds of ammunition, one Rocket Launcher with five live rockets, hand grenades and 111 detonators with wire which were kept concealed under sand in the midst of banana trees surrounded by a small jungle.
