Huge cache of arms and ammunition seized by Karbi Anglong police

BOKAJAN: In a major development, the Karbi Anglong police have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition and have arrested 5 person along the interstate Assam-Nagaland border in Karbi Anglong on Friday. As per reports, a join team of Karbi Anglong police and 5 Assam Rifles based in Dimapur intercepted a Gypsy car in the Naharjan area bordering Nagaland and recovered 3 AK 56 Rifle with 75 round ammunition and a pistol with 8 round ammunition from the vehicle.

Police have arrested all five occupants of the vehicle identified as Akhui Kashung, Ngmpoi, Wungreingam, Ashang Chithung and Lanchungrei Kamei in connection. A case under section 120(B) IPC R/W Sec. 25(1-A) of Arms act have been registered and a detailed investigation is on.

Earlier, the 5 Assam Rifle assisted in a similar recovery in the Gharialdubi area under limits of Bokajan Police Station leading to the recovery of a .22 Rifle, 3 Pistol and two hand grenades back in August, 2021.
