Huge Cache of Cannabis Seized, Three Arrested by Dillai Police

Bokajan: In a major development, the Dillai police seized a huge consignment of cannabis (ganja) from a night bus along the Assam-Nagaland border on Sunday. Police also arrested three persons, including the driver and helper of the bus, in connection. As reported, the police personnel manning the border patrol post at Lahorijan intercepted the bus (MN 01B 0003) plying between Imphal and Guwahati for regular check and recovered the cannabis concealed in large corrugated sacks with other packaged food items of suspected origin.

A total of 210 kilograms of cannabis wrapped in tarpaulin cover were recovered from the bus. The consignment was supposed to be delivered in Nagaon and was loaded onboard from Kankokpi of Senapati district in Manipur. One person identified as Habil Ali of Nagaon, along with the driver and helper of the bus, have been arrested in connection.
