TINSUKIA: Acting on a tip-off, a team of Margherita police led by SDPO Partha Protim Das and assisted by personnel from Pengeree Police Station, intercepted three vehicles that were coming from Bordumsa, Arunachal Pradesh at Pengeree-Bordumsa Road near Burhi Dihing Reserve Forest in the wee hours of Friday and recovered huge cache of IMFL.

The vehicles ( AS 23X 6905, AS06R0617 and AS06L8802) were illegally carrying Indian Manufactured Foreign Liquor (IMFL) earmarked for sale in Arunachal Pradesh. The case was handed over to Satyam Priyam, Excise Inspector, Digboi Circle and three cases have been registered while five persons – Mintu Newar, Tanai Newar, Shibu Newar, Rupam Gurung and Pappu Gogoi -were taken into custody. The accused were sent to 14 days judicial remand while a total of 2,268 bottles were seized containing 1096.37 BL of IMFL. The accused allegedly procured the consignment from Bordumsa, Arunachal Pradesh to illicitly sell it to customers in Pengeree.
