BONGAIGAON: Following information, Dhubri district customs department in association with Bongaigaon Government Railway Police and New Bongaigaon Railway Protection Force has seized a huge quantity of dry areca nuts on Monday night. As mentioned by OC, GRP, Bongaigaon said that a huge amount of dry areca nuts were being supplied from Silchar to Sealdah Station of Kolkata, West Bengal. "We conducted raid in the parcel van of Down 03176 Silchar Sealdah Express train from 1.45 am to 3.45 am at New Bongaigaon Railway junction. A total of 256 bags of dry areca nuts were recovered from there. After legal procedure it was handed over to the customs department of Dhubri on Tuesday," OC said. As per sources the value of recovered dry areka nuts would be more than 50 lakh rupees.
