Hundred-year traditions observed in paddy fields of Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: The age-old tradition of community transplanting of seedlings was observed in the paddy field of Jamugurihat this year also.

Two villages of Jamugurihat have been observing the tradition of transplanting seedlings in the paddy field of Chawkighat, here on Sunday. The two villages of Jamugurihat namely Deka Chuk and Gomdhora Chuk, have been transplanting seedlings for the last hundred years in the Chowkighat paddy field.

On Sunday, following the age-old traditions of Assamese culture and traditions, the workers engaged in the paddy field were seen busy in agri-works. The community transplanting of seedlings was held in the paddy fields of Jamugurihat.
