GUWAHATI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has developed highest number of pre placement offers (PPOs) for the academic year 2022-23. As per the reports, the highest pre placement offer amount stands at Rs 1.20 crore.

 As per the institute, this particular offer is the highest of all till date. The first placement phase registers 919 offers, with an amount of Rs 2.4 as the top offer. On the first day, IIT received 168 offers put forwarded by 46 companies. 

Amongst these includes two international offers. The domestic offer stands at Rs 1.1 crore whereas the highest international package stands at Rs 2.4 crore. The offers were placed covering several wings of engineering, including Software Development, Data Science, Quant, Core Engineering, Analyst, Product Designer job profiles etc.

As many as 1269 students registered their names for placement in the year 2022. Recruiters from 264 companies will shortlist candidates for 470 job profiles. The average salary of Btech in Civil Engineering Department has witnessed a downfall in the past one year.

In 2021, the average salary was Rs 22 lakh per annum, however, in 2022, it was decreased to Rs 17 lakh per annum. Along with that, the total number of placed students also came down to 59 from 79. In 2021, there was a massive increase in average salary which increased from Rs 13 lakh annually in 2020, to Rs 22 lakh in 2022.

Five years from today, the basic salary in 2018 was Rs 13 lakh per annum when 47 offers were presented, which increased to Rs 16 lakh per annum and 81 offers in the year 2019.

It is worth mentioning here that, IIT Guwahati achieved the 37 position in an international scale in the ‘Research Citations per Faculty’ category and 384 rank in the QS World University Rankings 2023, as per its latest release.
