GUWAHATI: A three-day "Research & Industry Conclave - INTEGRATION"23- was successfully held at the Indian Institute of Technology in Guwahati, to promote industry-academia collaboration.
The conclave was planned with the intention of offering a unique forum for students, young innovators, entrepreneurs, industry experts, professionals, academicians, policymakers, investors, and exhibitors to exchange cutting-edge ideas, knowledge bases, and showcase products and services to revitalise various research and development opportunities under one roof with a special focus on northeastern states.
Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, CMD of Numaligarh Refinery Limited, and Prof. Sashindra K. Kokoty, Dy. Director of IIT Guwahati, inaugurated the RIC 23. The IIT Guwahati Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. K.V. Krishna, and Deans of Industry Interaction and Special Initiatives, Prof. G. Krishnamoorthy, were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
More than 600 distinguished people from all around India attended the IIT Guwahati's premier event. Participants came from a variety of backgrounds, including MSMEs, start-ups, investors, policymakers, entrepreneurs, industrial specialists, academia, and trade and industry associations/NGOs.
It was an honour to have Dr. Rubul Mout from Harvard Medical School, Prof. Abhay Ashtekar from Pennsylvania State University, Prof. Subhash Kak from Oklahoma State University, Dr. Binoy Kumar Saikia from the North East Institute of Science and Technology, and Prof. Subhash Kak from Oklahoma State University as the Institute speakers at the Research and Industrial Conclave of 2023.
Speaking during the event, Prof. Parameswar K. Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati said, “IIT Guwahati strives to create a strong ecosystem of research and innovation through industry-academia collaboration, and the promotion of startup culture. This conclave is an effort by the Institute to join hands with the industry leaders and policymakers to solve the problems of the country, encourage entrepreneurship and create employment opportunities”
In order to address the hot topics in research, innovation, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Research & Industry Conclave'23 featured various speeches by illustrious individuals. The main speeches covered a variety of topics, such as the disruptive threat posed by artificial intelligence and India; new business prospects and the possibility for advanced markets for value-added carbon products made from coal resources; and cell engineering to name a few.
The goal of IIT Guwahati's Research Conclave is to inspire young people to pursue careers in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It has been taking place since 2015. This time, IIT Guwahati Research Park, Students' Academic Board (SAB), and IITG-TIC established the Research & Industrial Conclave (RIC) - INTEGRATION 2023 with dedicated networking schedules, mentoring sessions, and showcasing of innovations that provided new entrepreneurs and students with investment opportunities for product development and scaling-up.
