GUWAHATI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has secured hefty pre-placement offers in the academic year of 2022-2023. They have seen a increase in offers at the rate of 21 percent, as compared to the year 2021-22. According to the sources, the institute has received 218 pre-placement offers (PPOs) this year, with considerably the highest PPO of Rs. 1.20 crore per annum.
Prior to this year, there were just 179 pre-placement with Rs. 56 lakh in 2021-22. The Guwahati campus has witnessed an increase in the technical roles hiring with companies giving offer through internships. It is hereby notified that, the PPOs will continue to be made till the onset of the phase one of campus placement. The phase one of campus placement will start from 1st of December 2021.
T.G Sitharam, the Director of IIT Guwahati stated that, "the hard work of all the students has paid off in a very positive way," and congratulated them. According to the official statement, internships are considered as the major factor behind this success. He invited more companies and organisations to visit and hire the top talents of the country. T.G stated this in an institution statement.
Along with this, he mentions about the efficient internship programme and pre-placement talks carried out by the Centre of Career Development for the IITG students. These factors has acted as a great contributor in enhancing the students overall knowledge and capabilities.
Abhishek Kumar, the Head of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati's Centre for Career Development, said that webinars were conducted to help the students get a better insight of the field and also to assist their preparation. They have also collaborated with technical clubs in order to make the relevant study material for particular profiles accessible to the students. This has resulted in increased number of PPOs this year, he said.
Top multinational companies (MNCs) have participated in the pre- placement process this year which include, Accenture, Adobe, Amazon, Cisco, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited, DevRev, Flipkart, Bajaj Auto Limited, Goldman Sachs and many more. Microsoft, Oracle, JP Morgan and Samsung has put forward the highest number of offers in the academic year of 2022-23.
