JAMUGURIHAT: Amid operations against anti-social elements carried out by the state police, Sootea police managed to apprehend two illegal gold traders at Sootea on Saturday. "The apprehended two traders have been identified as Sahar Ali and Muntaz Ali who originally hail from Borghat, Tezpur. Both the traders were arrested by a team of the Sootea police led by Kalpajit Sarma -- Officer in Charge of Sootea Police Station. The Police carried out the operation as per an FIR lodged by Sahidur Rahman -- a resident of Sootea. A case -- 164 in this regard was registered on Saturday. "According to reports, a gang of fake gold traders has been pro-active in the state of late. They first woo the gullible general public by offering attractive and covetous rewards. The general public becomes easily prone to these types of tempting offers. Many times, the state police achieved success in apprehending the gang of fake gold traders. A similar incident took place at Sootea too. They were caught red-handedly. The Police has recovered two fake gold biscuits in their possession on Saturday.
