Illegal sawmill seized at Garuduba village in Sonitpur district

Tezpur: A sawmill operating illegally at Garuduba village of Thelamara Police Station in Sonitpur district was raided and later seized by Sonitpur West Forest Division on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, a forest team led by Forest Range Officer Shamim Akhter and Kalyani Malakar raided the place and found the sawmill operating illegally with illegal timber worth Rs 1.5 lakh, sources said. The owner of the sawmill managed to escape from the spot.
