Illicit liquor seized and destroyed, 2 held in Sarupathar

SARUPATHAR: Subdivisional Police Officer (SDPO) Trinayan Bhuyan and his police team of Dhansiri subdivision conducted some raids on Thursday at Dhachuk, Sarupathar under Sarupathar police station and seized 50 litres of illicit liquor. At Borchapori gaon under Barpathar police station, 400 litres of illicit liquor were seized and at Bishnupur under Uriamghat police station, around 100 litres of illicit liquor were seized.

Reportedly, the 550 litres of illicit and fermented liquor, seized gur and other raw materials that go into the preparation of illicit liquor, were destroyed on the spot. Meanwhile, in this connection, two accused persons were arrested and they have been identified as Shikari Terang from Balipathar in Karbi Anglong and Babul Bora from Nagajuri in Sarupathar. The seized liquor, as well as the accused persons, were handed over to the excise department.
