IMD forecasts heavy rainfall and thundershowers for Assam on August 1 and 2

Guwahati: The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall for Assam and its neighbouring states of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. As per the predictions, Assam is to experience very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and thundershowers.

The weather forecast for August 1 states heavy rainfall at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Hence, as per the forecasts, Assam is to experience heavy rainfall on August 1 while a glimpse of that has already been witnessed as several parts of the Guwahati city witnessed rainfall on Wednesday night.

Similarly, the weather forecasts for August 2 states heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura. This reveals rainfall chances for the entire northeastern states as the Monsoon trough has shifted to the north. The IMD forecast states, “Eastern end of the Monsoon trough has shifted to the north and is running towards Manipur across Assam & Meghalaya.”

Moreover, the Minimum temperatures are also recorded as noticeably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh and below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Odisha and Assam & Meghalaya and near normal over rest parts of the country.

However, the rest of the northeastern states, namely Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura are expected to experience rainfall on August 3rd as well.

Also, IMD, in its all India weather inference, have mentioned, '' The cyclonic circulation extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level over central Assam & neighbourhood persists."

At a time, when the Assam floods had come to a stable status with the floodwater receding at many places, the forecasts of further rains has again posed as a threat to lives. many villages in upper and lower Assam are still reeling under flood and are trying to cope up with the flood ravages.
