Guwahati: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday, predicted light to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Assam and Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.

As per the IMD, fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between 25th-29th July 2022.

''Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Assam & Meghalaya on 25th, 28th & 29th and over Arunachal Pradesh on 28th & 29th July 2022,'' IMD tweeted.

The weather department has also issued a yellow alert in view of these predictions in the entire northeastern region urging residents to be aware of the local weather situation.

It also said that due to the intense rain, the visibility may become poor and warned of disruption in traffic following waterlogging caused by heavy showers in low-lying areas.

IMD has also warned of possible landslides and mudslides in some areas.
