Guwahati: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) weather on Monday predicted that the northeastern region of India is likely to witness moderate rainfall by this week.

As per the IMD, in a major relief from the scorching heat, the states of the northeast are likely to witness scattered to moderate rainfall from Monday 21 March to Friday 25 March.

Isolated rains of light to moderate intensity would be seen over the regions of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and Meghalaya for the upcoming days.

The weather channel reported that the state of Arunachal Pradesh is mainly facing the consequences of the rough weather condition in the form of heavy rains on 21, 24 and 25 March 2022.

Following the prediction, the weather department has further issued a yellow watch over Arunachal Pradesh for the aforementioned dates i.e. on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

In addition on 24 March and 25 March, this yellow watch will also cover other states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland.

IMD also shared predictions about the weather condition in cities according to which the major cities like Guwahati, Shillong, Itanagar, Aizawl and Imphal are expected to see generally cloudy skies over the next 5 days with one or two spells of rain and thunderstorms.

A cyclonic circulation over southeast Madhya Pradesh might be the cause for this rainfall in the northeastern region as per the regional met department in Guwahati.
